BOAT PRICE LIST USED BOATS FOR SALE BOAT REPAIRS Activities in my boat shed
JOHNSEN RACING offers various classes of boats to cater for all segments of the market with due consideration to cost of production and therefore pricing to the rowing public.
MAIN DIFFERENTIATING FEATURES
1. HULL LAY-UP TYPES
The main classes are GLASS/ CARBON, CARBON ONLY (which includes the “ultralite” carbon skin sculling boat) and the oldish type lay-up of CARBON, NOMEX CORE and KEVLAR. Other options are also available depending on application, namely: glass only, glass, hybrid Kevlar/ carbon and carbon, hybrid Kevlar/carbon. The prices of these lay-ups are within the price ranges indicated in the price list but individual pricing can be given on request
The advantages of “CARBON” based monolith type lay-up as opposed to the traditional Nomex core lay-up boats are numerous. To name a few important factors these include;
· Durability in operation as well as in during road transport on boat trailers.
· Improved safety for the rower and sculler and other water users in the event of a collision
· Improved sustainability of Longitudinal and beam stiffness
· Improved Boat speed with minimal longitudinal flex in the water to slow the boat down
· The non toxic marine resin system combined with the carbon based monolith system used , have minimum adverse impact on the environment , the manufacturers and operators
· Carbon/Kevlar based monolith boats are easy to repair in the very unlikely event of a hull breakage.
2 INNER DECK CONFIGURATION (DOUBLES, FOURS, EIGHTS)
2.1 WATER TIGHT FOOT WELL AND CLOSED HATCHES ON RUNNER DECK
2.1.1 Water tight foot wells are inserted inside the water tight cockpit deck to allow for water to be baled out of the boat in the ever likely event of water getting into the boat during a race
2.1.2 The water tight foot wells together with other water tight compartments and sealed hatches render the boat unsinkable
2.1.3 The foot wells are constructed in such a way as to stiffen the boat in the longitudinal direction as well as to minimize twist of the hull
2.1.4 The foot wells are designed and constructed in such a way as to disallow the pressure of the foot board to be placed directly on the bottom of the hull thus improving the longevity of the boat hull
2.1.5 The configuration of the foot wells are standardized for all boat classes ; doubles, fours and eights so all footboard fittings have the same dimensions and can therefore be interchangeable in any boat thus saving on boat maintenance
2.1.6 The foot wells allow for a wide track width, therefore improving rower comfort, boat stability and safety to the rower and sculler
2.1.7 The runner decks are individually sealed compartments rendering the boat unsinkable
3 RIBLESS AND FLANGED SACS BOARD CONSTRUCTION
In line with the rest of the updated boat construction methods all our boats are sacs board ribless and have a carbon fibre reinforced flange on the longitudinal plain of the sacs board. The advantage of such construction is as follows;
3.1 The ribless sacs board construction places the rowing and sculling pressure on the working platform parts of the boat and not the hull
3.2 Improved stiffness in all directions, thus boat speed on the water, improved durability in transport , storage and general handling
3.3 Better comfort for the rower/ sculler especially in the bow section of the boat. A sacs board ribless constructed boat now gives more versatility in placing of choice rowers in the bow position
3.4 In sacs board ribless constructed boats it is now possible to easily fit adjustable riggers to the boat to allow for maximum work load and efficiency by the rower/ sculler.
3.5 The beam of the boat is reinforced by the cross linkage of the carbon wing rigger which holds the sacs boards on either side of the boat together thus giving a superior and more efficient racing boat system than the traditional Aluminium rigger construction
3.6 The flanged construction renders the boat virtually un twistable
3.7 The low cut sacs board allows for better boat speed and stability
4 CARBON WING RIGGERS , SEATS , FOOT BOARDS , RUDDERS AND SKEGS
4.1 All boats have carbon wing riggers. The wing riggers are constructed like an aero plane wing with a new improvement to stop twist
4.2 Seats are made from carbon fibre with a wooden inset into which the undercarriage can be attached securely.
4.3 Foot boards are constructed from marine ply laminated with carbon fibre and fitted together with stainless steel fittings
4.4 Skegs and rudder are made from carbon fibre
